The federal government has decided to collect Hajj expenses from pilgrims under the government scheme, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The first instalment of expenses will be collected from pilgrims across the country from tomorrow.
Registered pilgrims of the government scheme will have to pay Rs 500,000 under the long package, while under the short Hajj package, pilgrims will have to pay Rs 550,000.
It has been made mandatory for pilgrims to submit the first instalment of Hajj from August 4 to 9.
The collection of Hajj applications from unregistered pilgrims will start from August 11. Hajj pilgrims will be able to submit applications in designated banks until August 16.
The collection of applications will be banned when the government Hajj scheme quota is completed.
The second instalment of the Hajj package will be collected from Hajj pilgrims from November 1.
Pilgrims born before March 1, 2014, will be allowed to perform Hajj. Female pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj without a mahram by obtaining the prescribed form from banks.
Pilgrims will be able to apply and pay for Hajj expenses online while sitting at home.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to receive Hajj applications from unregistered pilgrims as well.
There is a fear that the Hajj quota of 1.2 million will not be completed from the 450,000 registered pilgrims.
According to sources, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has decided to give a chance to unregistered pilgrims due to the fear of low applications.
