In a move aimed at enhancing immigration services and promoting international tourism and investment, new immigration counters have been established at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the newly added counters are dedicated specifically for foreign passengers to ensure smoother and quicker immigration clearance, reducing delays that have often plagued international arrivals.
“The initiative is a practical step to align Pakistan’s immigration system with global standards,” the spokesperson said, adding that the upgraded setup will particularly benefit foreign tourists, investors, and business delegations arriving in the country.
The development also promises faster processing for returning Pakistani nationals, ensuring a more efficient and hassle-free experience at the airport.
Officials believe that the improved infrastructure will serve as a gateway to boosting tourism, trade, and foreign investment — all key priorities in Pakistan’s ongoing economic roadmap.
